Privacy

Your recordings are yours.

Vaiya is built so that this page can be short.

Nothing is collected

There is no account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no third-party code in the app. Vaiya makes no network requests of its own. Nothing about you or what you record is sent to us.

Your recordings stay with you

Recordings, and the edits you make to them, are saved as files on your device. The original capture is never changed: your edits are kept beside it, so any of them can be undone.

iCloud

Your library is kept in Vaiya's folder in your own iCloud Drive, so a recording made on one device shows up on your others. That is Apple's service and your account, and we have no access to it. The switch is in Settings, under iCloud Sync. With it off, recordings are kept on the device.

What the Mac notes while you record

To draw a smooth pointer and decide where to zoom, Vaiya notes where the pointer is and when you click. This is saved inside the recording's own project file, on your device.

If you allow Accessibility, Vaiya also notes when you type and where the text is going, so it can zoom there. It never reads or stores the keys you press. A run of typing is kept as a count of keys, not their timing. Notification banners are noticed by where they sit on the screen, so they can be zoomed in on too.

On the iPhone, nothing is noted beyond the video itself.

Screen, camera and microphone

On the Mac, Vaiya records only after you pick a display, a window or an area and press Record. On the iPhone, recording runs through iOS's own broadcast, which you start and stop.

The camera and microphone are used only when you turn them on. Each is recorded as its own track inside the recording, so you can change or remove it later. Taking away the room behind you is done on the device.

Photos

On the iPhone, Vaiya reads your photo library only to import a video you pick, and adds finished videos to it when you export.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send us crash reports. They come from Apple and contain no recordings.
